Laconic and Stylish Timeless Design

The family of customers wanted to move from their big apartment in an old house and not just preserve their usual level of comfort, but to imbue a modern living space with the spirit of a pre-revolutionary home.

A two-room apartment with a spacious hall in a new housing complex in Saint Petersburg was rearranged. It was divided into a big common space with living room and kitchen and an isolated bedroom with a roomy closet, bathroom and a laundry.

The laconic stylistic solution allowed for retaining maximum space without overburdening it with unnecessary details, yet still accentuating carefully thought-out décor that recalls times past. Such as a custom-made Art-Nouveau oak door leading to the living room. Or handmade lanterns in the kitchen. Or an allusion to the Roman Pantheon in the bedroom, where stylized flutes crown the bedhead and appear also in the furniture, and the round lamp on the ceiling imitates a skylight. Or natural adarce in the shower, which was used when building many of the historical landmarks of the city. And, finally a wooden flooring which once can hardly imagine a historical design without.
