In the beginning of September 2021 after a massive reconstruction the Great Bandstand in Mežaparks had finally opened. It is the biggest venue in Latvia situated in Riga city park. Originally it was built in 1955 to conduct traditional Latvian Song Festival and other big events.
The reconstruction, started in 2017 was the most significant cultural building project in Latvia. Unique architectural and acoustic solutions were deployed and some of these have no counterparts not just in Europe but in the world. This new ultra-modern venue has area of more than 146 thousand sqm. More than 10 thousand performers can be gathered on the stage. The renovated Great Bandstand has almost 30.6 thousand seats and can accommodate up to 70 thousand people.
Coswick had manufactured more than 2 thousand sqm of special high-durability oak planks for this project specifically. Such flooring retains its qualities and look even at high strain and moisture variation which is paramount for this kind of venue.
3-layer 21mm Coswick planks finished with Reinforced Silk Finish was used for this project.
